quick question

I have been granted my UK working visa (tier 5) which is valid for 2 years from this coming saturday (2nd june)

the way my flights are going however is that im flying Brisbane to Seoul (Sth Korea) on saturday and overnighting there, then the next day at ~1pm i fly from Seoul to Amsterdam.

included in my flights is overnight accomodation at a hotel in Seoul which Korea Air provides but i just had the thought that i dont know if i need to get a overnight visa for the accomodation.

Also i was told that my Uk visa will allow me entry into the shengen region for 90 days out of every 180. is this true or do i need to apply for the shengen visa too before i leave?

I think I just peed a lil

Well I sit here whole at work thinking about what Australia has done for me.

It might seem like a bit if a weird topic to be thinking of but let me assure you this job is not something that you need to think about very often.

Australia has brought me happiness, sadness and pain. Seems deep but In all honesty it's a place that can bring everything to anyone.

The years I spent tour guiding backpackers around the country have provided me with a will to see other lands, experience other cultures. To see the places I have heard about from the people I was paid to drive. I'm really quite excited not only to visit the other places that the world has to offer, but to meet up with all the people I have met in the past few years.

It has given me an education, multiple job opportunities in various industries, friends, enemies and everything in between.

As I'm sitting here with what I have roughly counted to be 12 days left in the country, I realise it's getting kinda scary to be honest. In less then 2 weeks i will be terrorizing the citizens of Amsterdam. It's getting real.

Contrary to the post title, I have not peed myself, but it's coming up to one of those circumstances where I think it could be an apt situation at times but then I remember that I have barely any clothes to change into.....

Can anyone who is reading this please confirm for me what I have been slightly assuming?!

All my clothes are suited for Australia. What little amount of clothes I have anyway.
When I get to Europe, it is going to be summer still, but will end up trailing into winter. What I have thought is that the clothes that are suited to a winter in Europe are expensive as hell here in Australia, so by my logic (not very good sometimes) over in Europe, clothes suited to Europe will be a lot cheaper then here in Australia.

Yes? No?

A bit of pointless rabble.... sorta

Well, its been a few days since my last post.

My boss at work has been informed of my resignation and impending trip, but being as professional as i can be, I have always worked as hard as possible so that i never burn a bridge when i leave a company.
This is for a few reasons. it gives me future references and also possible future job opportunities may the need arise.

He was sad to see me leaving so soon after starting but as he said, its not everyday that a trip opportunity comes around so take it and let them know when i get back.

I will say that as i listen to Hootie and the Blowfish screaming let her cry in the background, its not actually a sad moment for me to be leaving the company.

Im not saying that it was a regrettable job, i've had many a moment in the job that were great, the other staff are all (with one exception) great and easy to get along with and the customers...... well the people that park in the carpark are of a very varied nature. some are easy to get along with and can crack jokes with them and just nice people. others are absolute assholes.

kinda like the guy that has a reserved bay, but someone parked in it during lunch rush so he parked in the driveway blocking them in and then ran off with the keys.

this meant that we had to jack his car and roll it into another bay later that day when we found out what had happened. I mean, when you pay X amount a month for a perm bay thats fair enough but when we make 10X+ a day in the carpark your actually not as important as you think.

in the process of moving said car on the roller jacks, said car got stuck in joins in carpark, ran over my left foot which a week later is still sore, and then had the nerve to yell at the other attendants that he spoke to (cause we left his car on jacks). the bastard is just lucky that i was waiting for him to come out of work but worked late and missed me.

so all in all this job I'm doing at the moment has had its moments. Both good and bad.
a few of the plus'.

have met some brilliant people,
possible job openings when i get back from europe/the world
have gotten to drive some very very nice cars (Lotus Elise, Merc C63 AMG, Ferrari F340 Spyder, Porsche Carrera just to name a few)

but all in all its just a inbetween job from when i left tour guiding and to when i leave, which on a side note is in 3 WEEKS!!!! To the day!

ok now down to the actual meat of this post, today has been spent so far mostly sleeping, but organizing all my assorted SHIT and in an hour or so i will be taking a large amount of it to the storage where all the family gear is stored for when i get back.

oh yeh, i have also received an email in the last week stating that my Visa for the UK has been approved. so i should shortly be receiving in the mail the documents for that and my passport back.
Im now eligible to work in the UK :D

sorry for the long winded post, and somewhat off topic sections,
will keep posting as new things happen

Saturday 5 May 2012

So another seemingly pointless update

a few more things have been achieved prior to my trip starting.

transfered my licence from SA back to QLD so that all my licence details are with the family PO Box,

started my application for a international driving permit

still awaiting to hear back from the british consulate who have my passport. i really hope they hurry up and get everything back to me as i need the passport to leave.

i still however have to sort out what im taking so i know im within the weight limits and know what i have to put away in the family storage before it gets locked up for the next 2 years.

hmmmm. so much to do. so little time

McFears 2nd post, all about mistakes and misgivings and 2nd thoughts

Well I know my first post was yesterday evening, not even 12 hours ago.

But I was reading through what I had written and realized I had skipped over a few "key" points.
First of which was the mention of the pussy party I had mentioned it but hadn't given any description of any sort of it.

Basically its run by a group of bike riders called 2 wheel babes, they are having a fundraiser for the batten organization for battens disease. A mate of mine is the owner of pussy downunder, which imports an energy drink called pussy.

These two have grouped up to have what's been named the pussy party, it's $25 entry with food all night and a free pussy cocktail on entry. All proceeds are going towards the battens organization, for more information and to book tickets, check out www.2wheelbabes.com It's a worthy cause and I'll be there for my last night in aus :D

The second thing that I forgot to mention yesterday was that I'm secretly packing myself.
What if I haven't got enough money saved up.
What if I don't find a job
What if something happens and I get waylaid on my trips and stuck
 What if
What if
What if

I'm pushing these thoughts away because I know if I let them get to me i'll never go but it's still making me a bit nervous. I suppose the best thing to do is just continue looking forward and then getting on that plane. But hey life's not without it's challenges.

The lead up........

Well my first post on here is written with a bit of apprehension and excitement.

Not 2 days ago I handed over The largest amount of money I have paid for anything with the exception of my motorbikes when I paid for my flights to Europe.
Wow. It's happening.

I'm actually writing this on my iPad which I bought today on a whim thinking I might need it while sitting on the train on the way home from a job that is mind killingly dull and only a means to an end.

Back on topic, for the past close to 2 years I was a tour guide in the Australian outback, Both in a 4x4 troopy bouncing backpackers around for up to 10 days offroad or in a bus with up to 21.
What came from this was a deep desire to see other places within the world and catch up with old friends.

From all of the people I have met, all of the stories I have heard about other places, "mystical" places it has only deepend my desire to see these other places. So upon my parents saying they will buy my tickets to Europe as a 21st birthday present it all of a sudden brought my dreams into a reality.

The past week has been mayhem. Absolute mayhem. From trying to sell my motorbike online over the past few months and having no hits on it whatsoever, to putting it on a different website and it selling within 3 days, to my parents moving overseas to Africa not 2 weeks ago leaving me the last McPhee in the country in my direct family, as my sister had moved to America a few months ago. Having to organize fencing at the family property, all the mail redirection bank accounts and phone accounts it's been hectic.

So now living with the neighbors for the next 2 weeks and another yet to be determined place for the following 2 weeks I'm finally able to slow down a little bit, my appointment at the British consulate went well. Or at least as well as getting your photo and fingerprints taken can. I now await my approval from them to say I'm legally allowed to enter the UK with the intentions to work. With the majority of my work now done, I'm able to sit in at my dead end job as a valet in Brisbane parking cars and getting dumber by the day until the time comes for my departure.

I even have an unofficial going away party.

I'm involved in a company "pussydownunder" which is a energy drink quite popular in Europe, but we are having a bit of trouble getting it into shops in Brisbane some due to the name, and others with contracts. Anyway, we are having a party in Brisbane on the 2nd of June as a fundraiser for the battens organization, so it's party Friday night, and then the Saturday morning, I am due at the airport about 6am for my flights to Amsterdam haha oh well at least I should be able to sleep on the plane to Seoul. Anyway that's it for now, my train is nearly at home.

Will hopefully get a few updates in before I leave home and then will put new posts in as I can when I'm overseas.

Ross :D
